Fixed Mortgage Rates: Home Mortgage Rates Rise
According to Freddie Mac, the average interest rate on a 30-year fixed-rate home mortgage rose last week, while the average rate on a 15-year fixed-rate mortgage remained unchanged.
In its weekly survey of conforming mortgage rates (released Thursday, September 9th), Freddie Mac noted that the average rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rose to 4.35%, up slightly from the prior week’s 4.32% average. This is the first time since the week ended June 17 that the mortgage rate rose.
The 15-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 3.83%, remaining at its record low that was set the prior week.
