Ok, I have to ask probably the most basic question

Hello,

I finally decided to start blogging.  I have been reading so much about blogging on AR, I can't wait to actually do more than a "first blog," but I have a couple questions:

1.  I intend for my AR blog to be my only blog.  Do I need to have any other blog going or is one enough?

2. If I want my prospects who visit my website to be able to view my AR blog, do I just set up a link from my website (I saw instructions on linking).

3.  Can I actually put the AR blog content on my website, or can I only include a link back to AR?

4.  If I keep up my blog regularly, helping my ranking on search engines, is the higher ranking associated with the direct blog page through AR, or is it associated with my website (which has my AR blog linked with it)?

I think that's it for now.  Thanks for the help!

Hello and welcome to ActiveRain!  Your questions are very good.

1.  Entirely up to you.

2.  Yes.

3.  I've seen some members who have done this.

4.  The former, if you check the page rank of AR, it has a PR of 6, so your blog will benefit from the association.  But if your website already has the same page rank, then it's a toss up.

Hope that helped.  Good luck and good blogging!

Deborah - Yolanda has answered the questions but let me elaborate a little bit. You can have another blog and its not a bad idea because your blogs can be linked to one another creating additional traffic to each site. You may want to make your other blog not just soley about real estate as an example. In regards to putting your blog on your website - I would do it. This is something that offers great content for people going to your website. You would do this by adding /rss after your blog address. The blog will come up in google if you know how to write for SEO (search engine optimization). I would suggest visiting Brad Carrol's Blog here on AR he offers excelletn info. Hope this helped.

Deborah good question you bring up. I have my AR blog link directly to my website. I also have a Wordpress blog which I post the same or just about the same information.  Hope this helps. I too still don't have all the answers.

Another way to improve your blog ranking on the various search engines is to directly submit your information to them.  An abbreviated list of them follows:

1) myweb2.search.yahoo.com

2) blogsearch.google.com

3) www.google.com/reader

4) www.technorati.com

5) www.mozilla.com/firefox

6) www.bloglines.com

7) www.newsgator.com

8) www.pluck.com

9) www.feedster.com

and 10) pingomatic.com

To submit blogs to each site, go to the site and register.  The blog you will be advertising is http://activerain.com/blogs/mjrosov (though your userid will be after the blogs).

In this regard, ping o matic is great because it make sure that you have updated your blog to the various sites!

Deb,

I decided to use ActiveRain for the google search engine optimization feature and also try to link it to my website.  Not all the time but some of the time.  If I have a really long article, I will start it on ActiveRain and then do the "to Read more" and link it into the website.  I have two websites... one is a blog website with most of the ActiveRain content on it @ www.seegrhomes.com and the other is a forum that I created for the public that I'm trying to push at the moment :)))... it is www.stoneblogs.com.  Go check them out and feel free to give me any feedback you might have.  Good luck, I think a blogging website is the way to go!

One of the things I did in a rare moment of intelligence is join blooger.com on Google. That wasn't the smart part. I realized that I could cut my Active rain Blog and paste it on Blooger . So I saved the time in re-writing. Now that may seem obvious to you but for me it was one small step.... On this digital highway
