Do you know where YOUR rabbit is?

http://www.missionvalleycondos.infoSunday, September 26, is International Rabbit Day, a day dedicated to promoting the care and protection of rabbits both in the home and in the wild. It is held each year on the fourth Saturday or Sunday of September.

http://www.missionvalleycondos.infoFestivities in San Diego this year, Bunnyfest 2010, will be hosted by San Diego's chapter of the House Rabbit Society (HRS), a nonprofit rabbit rescue and education group. HRS believes that all rabbits are valuable as individuals and that domestic rabbits are companion animals to be afforded the same level of care and opportunity for longevity as commonly afforded to dogs and cats who live as human companions.

http://www.missionvalleycondos.infoHRS educates society on the joy that rabbits bring to our lives and the many ways in which rabbits are harmed by hunting, eating, medical experimentation, product testing, fur-farming, and living isolated lives in outdoor hutches.

Bunnyfest 2010 will take place on Sunday, September 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at San Dieguito Park, 1628 Lomas Santa Fe Dr., in Del Mar.

Jim - I'm guilty - I don't really think that much about rabbits, excepts for Bugs and the Easter Bunny!  Thanks for the heads up and the awareness message.

Jim....I had never given much thought to rabbits, wild or domesticated.  House rabbits are rare in my part of the country.

Based on your first picture it appears your business is oriented towards the "Fat Cats" ;)

My kids want a rabbit; I want no more pets.

This made me laugh...I have many rabbit memories. When we lived in Maine and I was a purist, I sheared my sheep, dyed the wool with natural dyes, spun it into yarn and wove with it on a huge semi-production loom. I also had two Angora rabbits so I could pluck their fur and spin it. Well, one Saturday morning the weekend before Easter, my husband went to the feed store and someone was selling baby bunnies out of the trunk of her car for $4. He couldn't resist so he came home with one. That little b****rd knocked up both of the ladies when he was a mere four months old (Yes...****like a bunny!) and, instead of 3 rabbits, we soon had 33 rabbits!

It gets WORSE! Turns out that he was a PERVERT! We moved up the coast and opened a bed and breakfast. "Stud Bunny" fell in love with my barn CAT and proceeded to perform unnatural acts several times a day. Word spread among our guests to the point that people would call and ask, "Is this the place with the cat and the rabbit??"

Am I going to celebrate International Rabbit Day? I hardly think so!

Bunnyfest... I would love to attend!  My father used to raise rabbits and I considered them pets until the were "gone to a better place".

Thanks to everyone for stopping by and commenting. Comments are greatly appreciated!

I'm trying to follow up on these older posts like this one to see if anyone had any questions or if I really need to respond to anyone's comments.

I will read all the comments and respond to any that need a response, but rather than making comments here in my post to each and every one of you, I'll just let everyone know that I have read all the comments and if there are any questions, I'll answer those in comments below this one. Otherwise I'll simply post this comment and then head over to your blogs soon to visit and do some reading and commenting. I hope you'll have a nice welcome mat out for me!

Don't forget to let your cat come out to play with all the other ActiveRain kitties. Your cat-friendly dogs can come, too! At the end of the 2010, which is the Chinese Year of the Tiger, I'm going to put together a slide show or an eBook of all the ActiveRain kitties. If you see any stray cats roaming around ActiveRain, gather them up and bring them over to our forever home right here! The more the merrier!

Also, if you need a great cat book, get yourself a copy of Peg Silloway's The Cat Lover's Book of Days. It has great pictures and cat trivia, and you can use it year after year since it only has dates but not years.

Best wishes to everyone for a great Fall!
