No Matter What the Rush...Please Double Check!

Yesterday, I was on designated security duty for all my listings.  I've gotten into the habit of getting by my listings each week to gather the business cards, check for the door-hanger/advertisements, phone books thrown on the porch, etc.   If homes are vacant and there are pizza fliers hanging on the door knob - then everyone else will know it's vacant too.

Double Check the DoorsWhen Realtors® are showing properties, we can be in a such a rush.   Let's see,  you've got to show 20 homes in 4 hours???   Sometimes, we rush.  I'm guilty of this too.

But....we've got to DOUBLE CHECK the doors!

When you're standing in the doorway and leaving a showing - your clients are ahead of you and getting in the car.  Before you close that door and put the key back into the lockbox...just take a minute.  Are all the lights off?   And more importantly, are all the doors secured??

While at eight (8) listings yesterday, there were 5 homes with rear doors UNLOCKED.

One of the many hats a Realtor® wears is security guard.....

Let's all Double-Check!

You'll be protecting the owners and the other agents that are showing that home.

I have to come to one of my occupied listings and found the door wide open after a showing.  Unbelievable.  It was either the agent or the inspector, and neither "fessed up".

This is an excellent reminder - clients often open doors and sliders when they are looking at a home and it is indeed up to us to make sure we leave the residence in the same condition we found it in.

By the way, love that new photo!!!!
