STOP, LOOK, AND LISTEN...Missing Business Opportunities?

By
Real Estate Agent with Dockside Realty VA 0225142975

STOP,LOOK, AND LISTEN...missing business opportunities?  At a stop light this afternoon, I took a moment to look up at the sky.  This is what I saw:

Sky - photo by Kate Elim, Lake Anna,VA

AN ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS SKY!

I took the first chance I had to pull off the road, get out of my car, and captured this shot.  If I hadn't I would have thought of it later and regretted that I had not taken advantage of the opportunity.

Have you ever:

  • Regretted not taking advantage of an opportunity?  I'm sure you have and so have I.  There have been a number of times when I have not have reacted quickly enough to seize upon a real estate related opportunity and it can be costly.

  • Procrastinated and finally called on an expired listing only to find out the seller just signed a listing agreement with another agent?

  • Heard that a neighbor was thinking of moving and hesitated to act on that bit of news only to find that neighbor has chosen another agent that heard that rumor also...and acted fast?

  • Found out that a friend's family member was thinking of buying a home and you hesitated because you did not want to seem pushy or to be taking advantage of your friendship?  Then all of a sudden it was too late?

  • Considered farming an area and put it off only to find another agent jumped in, marketed extensively, and gained a big advantage in that area?

  • Put off contacting your SOI, finally get around to it, and find out that some have proceeded to buy or sell homes without you?  Imagine that!

Don't miss out on the big picture...and don't miss out on the opportunities out there because you have not taken the time to STOP, LOOK, LISTEN...and then ACT.

GOOD LUCK IN SEIZING EACH AND EVERY OPPORTUNITY and

TURNING IT INTO A FABULOUS OPPORTUNITY.

Have missed a few opportunities over the last 22 years.  Love the photo and yes we do try to stop and take opportunity photos when we can.  The camera is always with us since we do quite a few BPO's .

Kate is great.....what an abundance of goodies exist for us all to take in 24/7 and to spend all of our time or most of our time in one area not only makes no sense but causes us to miss out on all the rest. You captured and delivered the point........most excellently

thank  you

Looks like there are great ideas crossing everyone's mind, but not everyone jumps on them and ACTS... That's what we need to succeed - just DO things (ask, inquire, mail out etc).

Kate, what a nice post- non critical of what we don't do, but encouraging what we should do. The sky is stunning- I need to look up more! :)

Hi Everyone...Thanks for all the comments.  Yes, most of us have been in the situations I mentioned at one time or another.  In fact probably more often than we would like to admit even to ourselves.  Realizing this can hopefully get us to react more positively in the future.

Many, many thanks for all the wonderful comments about my photo.  I was so happy with it and am equally happy that you liked it too.

By the way, I wasn't available today to answer each comment individually because I did seize the opportunity to turn an expired into a listing.  Took loads of pictures today and worked on marketing material.  Looks like I'm taking my own advice!

Please share with us any opportunities you've turned into listings or sales.  Write a post and let us know.  I know I'd love to read about it.

Hi Kate,  as so many others have already said, that is a beautiful sky - I'm glad you got a photo.  With photographing clouds and with real estate, I've noticed if you don't act quickly they both change and the opportunity that was once there is gone.  Congratulations on this featured post, I'm glad I didn't miss it.
