Jack Daniels Whiskey and Barbeques Galore Lakeway TX

Chef Kyle Jentsch of Barbeques Galore Lakeway TX and his assistant, Jessica, did it again last night! They prepared a fabulous three course meal completely on the grill.  I was one of 11 who surrounded them in a semi-circle, enjoying their magic and "licking my chops".  It was fun, entertaining, educational...and delicious.  The secret ingredient to this weeks wonderful Twin Liquor evening? Jack Daniel's Whiskey!

Brett Bornemann, the Market Brand Manager for Jack Daniel's Houston/South Texas, joined us and opened the Barbeques Galore Cooking Experience with fun and interesting facts about Jack Daniel's Whiskey. 

I especially enjoyed the history portion of Jack Daniel's Whiskey and found it amusing that Jack Daniel (the person) was introduced to the whiskey business by a still owning preacher; who in 1863 had to choose between his preaching and his alcohol business.  Deciding to go with religion, the preacher sold his still to his 13-year old whiskey protege, Jack Daniel!

The evening began with Chef Kyle's famous foccacia bread baked in the big green egg (a grill), and a wonderful libation of Jack Daniel's Whiskey and grilled lemonade. 

The bread was dense and soft with a hint of sweetness and a perfect crust.  I believe the sweetness came from a peach spice that Chef Kyle added to the recipe.  It was devoured before we got past the first course.  Luckily, the Jack Daniel's and lemonade concoction continued to flow through the second course.

My favorites of the evening, beside the bread, were the spicy Hot Wings and the Planked Glazed Salmon.  Both were spectacular and delicious - and easily prepared on the grill.  Perfect for a group of friends watching a football game.

The evening ended with a scrumptious Jack Daniel's Bread Pudding and Blue Bell vanilla ice cream.  Similar to the foccacia bread, the bread pudding was baked over the grill and quickly devoured.
