North Carolina has so many cultural activities to offer tourists and residents of the state this time of year. On summer weekends, residents empty out their communities to head to the beach or the mountains. Highways 40, 74, 17 and 220 are clogged on Friday afternoon with traffic and then again on Sunday afternoon as everyone heads back home. Once the children are back in school, activities become more community and neighborhood based. Outdoor cultural events spring up and Friday weekend celebrations increase.
