Greedy Little Critters!

Sometimes we encounter  Greed.....When Enough is NOT Enough

Why Advertising is For the Birds is a a subject I have written about along with the joys of feeding the birds.

In the past week, we have found the lid off the brown metal can where my bird seed supply is stored. I chose metal to keep the unwanted critters and creatures out.

At first we blamed each other for not securing the lid...so I  started putting the metal watering can on top for additional weight. We must have a large raccoon or so we though until this morning when I found this mess.

The watering can is on the ground, the lid is upside down and the seeds are all over the place!

We must have a large raccoon or so we thought ...until.this morning. Thank goodness my camera was near by.
Before I had time to clean it up the mess ...look what I found..this Greedy Little Critter!

I am still wondering how this little guy, or gal, could move the watering can, remove the lid and turn it upside down. Does not seem humanly   possible.

Did you notice how the thick plastic overhang was chewed up? How did he/she get this done? I understand how the plastic was chewed but not how the can and lid were removed. Guess I have to set up special video to capture the act.

Remember, we put two feeders with the same food, one for the birds and one for the squirrels.

For this greedy little critter...enough is not enough! How can you relate this to real estate?

It's the small and sneaky ones that you have to watch out for! ;) Squirrels are cute but very strong and very determined.

My parents had a menagerie of squirrels that were thieves and raided the bird feeders often....and as aresult were gifted with many books on how to keep squirrels in their part of the yard...and the birds happy !

Margaret, a couple of years ago I hiked to LeConte lodge up in the Smokys with some friends. When you get there you MUST put any food items in their garbage cans in the main building because the chipmunks and squirrel sneak into the cabins and will go through your backpacks looking for food!

It's amazing what they can do to eat! Great pictures!

Margaret,

I've seen racoons take off lids, but never squirrels. I didn't think they were strong enough. Determined, yes.

Joan, Would you like to come set up a camera?

Phly, Cute and very strong with a great deal of determination.

Sharon, The photos are fun.

Tim, Thanks for taking time to stop by.

Sally, We have so many gadgets to stop the squirrels. And then decided since none of them worked...just enjoy the critters. Even put Vaseline on the top of the squirrel guards. It just seemed to make it easier for them. So now they are our entertainment.

Connie, Nature all around us is amazing. Guess you could have carried metal backpacks.

Margaret I too grew up around a lot of very smart little critters on a lake in MN. They could get into almost anything - and they were lots of fun to watch.  I'd love to see a video of your critters!  BTW - this applies to real estate a few years ago - and look what happened :(
