I've been following Dee Mayers' blogs for a couple of weeks now. Informative, witty, and filled with inspiration. Her blog:
Without the wax - 'Dee' Mayers
I've been wondering what the "without the wax" part was. I thought it meant it was plain speaking without being "glossed" over, without being coated in wax to blur the issues. I knew I was pretty close, because her blogs are very well thought out and truthful. But, I wanted to know for sure.
So, I emailed her and asked. She responded with the following:
I first heard the term "without wax" some years ago as I was listening to a speaker explain the term. It comes from two Latin words (sin, without) and (ceras, wax) and from it the word sincerity was associated with the term.
At the time I was looking for a title for my blog, and what I heard seem to fit what I wanted to convey. I am sincere in what I say and I think it comes across in my blog and my comments.
Thanks for asking, have a pleasant and relaxing evening.
I though this was worth sharing - just another sign of her thoughtfulness.
Thanks for your response, Dee. And, Happy Blogging.
