School started Monday 8/27/05 for most Las Vegas children...some students did not have their required shorts and had to be sent home to make plans to receive them. Despite the wet weather, it was back to school as usual for more than 314,000 students Monday in the Clark County School District. As of August 27, the district is 396 teachers short. On Saturday Evening at the Grand Opening ceremonies of the Fremont Street East, Las Vegas' Mayor, Oscar Goodman, took a tumble while toasting to the crowds....he admittedly was on 'his 5th or 6th Martini! Hmmmm. Fortunately he only suffered minor injuries.
Flooding, thunderstorms hit the valley A flash flood warning was in effect most of Monday while thunder, lightening and heavy rain rolled through the Las Vegas valley. As much as 3 inches came down in some areas, causing flooding in homes, accidents and just general debri all over the streets.
