Living in Boulder, CO -- We love our pets!

Among many other reason we love living in Boulder, CO, our community seems to be full of people who love their pets!  We are also a community that has a much higher than average adoption rate for pets from our pet shelters.

In fact, I visited the Boulder Humane Society's web site today, as I had heard that the Boulder Valley Humane Society will WAIVE ALL ADOPTION FESS FOR DOGS AND PUPPIES ON SEPTEMBER 29TH AND 39TH AND OCTOBER 1ST!  This should be music to the ears of anyone in our area looking for a new best friend.

Anyway, back to having visited the Boulder Humane Society's site.  They reported on their site that as of September 20th, they had addopted 1193 animals (626 dogs and 567 cats).  Pretty impressive!  In fact they reported that they are ahead of the same time period last year by 467 adoptions! 

Living in Boulder, CO -- We love our pets.  In fact, many pets are brought in from out of state to our area for adoption since we have such a successful adoption rate.

Recently, the four mile canyon fire displaced many families (over 160 homes were burned), and pets.  The Boulder Valley Humane Society has taken in pets for displaced fire victims and is caring for their pets free of charge until the displaced fire victims can once again care for their pets.  How awesome! 

Milo and Madeline

Here is a picture of my furry friends; they are like family members and as you might expect "S-P-0-I-L-E-D".  Milo is the older of the two.  He had to have surgery two years ago for a intra hepatic liver shunt.  Didn't know if he was going to make it.  But he is healthy and we enjoy every day we get to spend with him.

Madeline, is his new best friend.  When we lost our 14 year old over memorial day, poor Milo was lost. So we had to get our puppy a puppy.

Vickie-Milo and Madeline are adorable.  We ended up adopting a stray cat when we bought our last home.  She sat on our back deck and waited for us go get home every day.  In the evenings she would hop up on our laps when we were out on the deck.  Needless to say, she won us over.  A week later she gave birth to two kittens.  We couldn't decide which one to give away and which one to keep, so 9 years later we have Bootsie, Duster and Silly.  I hope that your community continues their success with finding these wonderful pets new families!

Mel, thank you for sharing your story about your cat and kittens.  I don't blame you, it would have been too dificult a decision as to which to keep and which to give away.  Sounds like you made the best choice.  ;)
