Did the recession end?

Or is it the political machinations of an administration grasping for straws before an election?

What do you think?

It seems to be alive and well in my neck of the woods...

The Great Recession is officially over fact or fiction? As I continue to read posts from all of you in AR is it really?

The panel of economists say that it is over. They say it is now officially the longest U.S. economic downturn of the post-World War II era. The recession ended in June 2009, 18 months after it began in December 2007, according to the National Bureau of Economic Research's business cycle dating committee.

But the committee took pains to make clear that it was not asserting that the economy has returned to full health.

In determining that a trough occurred in June 2009, the committee did not conclude that economic conditions since that month have been favorable or that the economy has returned to operating at normal capacity, the committee said in statement published on the NBER's Web site. Rather, the committee determined only that the recession ended and a recovery began in that month.

I heard that on the little bit of national news that I heard tonight and nearly cracked up.  Really....it's over?  Well, it is about time.  When will the politicians and the top 2 percent of the wealthy get this news. Or are they the ones making this crap up?  The rest of us know better.

I still see businesses suffering and people holding back some. But, with that said, I am feeling a buzz in the air that wasn't there before, and traffic suddenly has become more congested. Some buyers are out looking more now as well.
