THE ANN ARBOR NEWS IS KAPUT.....
I feel bad about that. This was my childhood home. Ann Arbor, MI was my mecca of youth, pop culture and good times. The Ann Arbor News was iconic and now it is no more. This big concrete hulk of a building sits there cold and silent off to the distance waiting for a savior. This was a big news channel that distributed news, coupons and real estate information to the masses week after week.
We have entertainment papers but they only come out once a week. They don't compare to the glory days of newspaper advertisements...... That culture is slowly eroding.....
So I began to experiment with advertising. I come from the halls of Rubicam and FCB and BBDO and became dangerous with Google SEO. I decided to come up with a better advertising platform that was cheaper than my printed counterparts.
I presented the idea to Metro Times... thats an entertainment paper here in Detroit. I wanted them to partner up with me on some new online marketing platforms. They turned me down so I created Hot Metro Finds on my own.... which is a video directory... just to see if I could do it..... I wanted to see if I could create content that would pop up on page 1, that was unscripted, and seller friendly to the people...

This is a result for the keywords METRO DETROIT ROCK MUSIC... notice how I grabbed the top spots... I got the two spots on top. Metro Times is number 4 or 5.
Here is why I think this format is interesting --- IT WORKS... and its CHEAP to advertise on it.
I got this thing to pop up on page 1. I can do this whenever I want.
NOTE: Here is the point. I recently came across a lot of real estate agents business cards on a push pin corkboard the other day when I got coffee. That was disturbing to me.... but the really big clincher here was I also came across the new bad boys of online marketing -- some coupon outfit... Guess where they were? They weren't online I can tell you that much. These guys were also on the same corkboard.
Come on..... What do you think about that?
