Motivational Power Quote

Remember The Turtle

"Remember the turtle - -

He never makes any progress till

He sticks his neck out."

Source Unknown

As I see it. . . . . . . .

Remember the turtle

The turtle lives their life in a shell and when they encounter any kind of challenges they retreat back into their shell to hide from the world.

Don't be a turtle and live in a shell.

To break away from our shell and experience what life has to offer we have to come out of our shell. When we first venture away from the shell we have to take a leap of faith to move away from the safety of our shell and into the world.

When we step out of the shell we have to stick our neck much like the turtle. When we stick our necks out there is a element of risk involved but also the sunshine of success there waiting there for us.

Remember the turtle - but be your own person and stick your neck out of your shell.

I have a quote similar to this on a paperweight in my office.  Behold the turtle, he only moves forward....etc. etc. Good quote! We can't be successful in life, if we're always afraid to take risks.

Lou, only those who are willing to "stick out their necks" are the ones who make progress, and cross the finish line, i.e. the tortoise and the hare.

Lou,

We need to stick our necks out to venture into the world.  If we stay in our shells, we will never move forward.  If we don't move forward we will be stuck in a rut, at which point we will not improve nor succeed.

As the saying goes, "Nothing ventured, nothing gained."

Great advise! You prompted me to do a little google and I thought this was also good:

My favorite quote on turtles comes from former Havard University President, James Bryant Conant.

"Behold the turtle. He only makes progress when he sticks his neck out."

Many of us do not like to take risk. We would rather stay in our comfort zone. A comfort zone is an easy state to be in but you will never grow as an individual. In order to grow we have to be willing to come out of our "shells" and try something new. The problem is that "new" means different, which can mean doing something that may seem difficult. It is alsways easier to do nothing and stay within our shelter.

The turtle has to stick it's neck out before it can even move. Coming out of its shell means that they are now open to attack from the outside world. But it is necessary for survival. A turtle would starve if it never came out, just as you can starve physically, emotionally, and spirtually if you never "come out".

We can't let fear of the unknown detrmine how we live our lives. We have to become like a turtle and be "stable and constant in our opinions, ideals, and ideas." It is always easy to go along with what the crowd deems acceptable. If we aren't secure in what we believe in, when we do step out, we will be eaten alive by the voltures.

So be willing to "stick your neck out." You'll find that you can accomplish anything if you just try. As you put in the effort you will start to see your dreams unfold in front of your eyes.

Be safe, and thanks for listening.
