Blood Drive in the Making
I recently sponsored a Habitat for Humanity Day here in Salt Lake City, UT and was blessed in so many ways by the participation.http://activerain.com/blogsview/184243/Recovering-From-a-Heart My goal with my business is to implement a Charity event every 2-3 months. Not only because the giving feels so good, but most importantly the need is so badly required.
The thought came across my mind to sponsor a blood drive. So yesterday i met with the American Red Cross http://www.redcross.org/ in our community to set up a blood drive for October. Hmmmm…Halloween. “I want to draw your blood” The representative Anne mentioned that it’s very hard to get people involved. OK i have to admit, i hear those words and it makes me want to try to get the best turn out ever and this is where you come in. Have any of you sponsored a blood drive? What did you do to make it a success? Did you have an incentive other than the obvious, giving? I have just a couple weeks to get this underway, so if you will please donate your blood (thoughts) and help me reach my goal I would appreciate it dearly.

Some of the myths of blood donation:
It’s only needed for major tragedies. Wrong! It’s needed all the time. Tragedies happen often, but not all are put in the media.
The blood will be there when something happens. It may not. We have to keep on giving. The supplies may not hold up if some major tragedy happens.
If I go in for surgery and blood is needed, they’ll have it there for me. Why not go donate your own blood before hand and have the hospital use it if necessary?
