Shorter Days, Harder Sales?

By

Now that Day Light savings time is among us the days are obviously shorter.  With darkness arriving at around 6:30 pm, our property showing window has now decreased.  Accompany that with the lock boxes turning off at 8:00pm instead of 9:00 pm, wrapping showings up by around 7:30, now becomes important.  Excluding the last two weeks in December, our business in this area is pretty steady.  We still have an influx of relocations from New York, Chicago, Baltimore, and Detroit, to keep us very busy.  The North Atlanta Real Estate market has benefited from many large companies moving here and setting up shop.  The question I would like to ask is, "Do shorter days really limit are abilities to sell homes?”  Atlanta, as with most cities, has a grueling rush hour traffic that starts a 4pm and ends at 7pm.  Now that we have lost another hour, that leaves minimal for clients to see property after work.  That forces the client to take off of work, or commit their weekend to house hunting.  I have noticed my weekends getting busier, and my weekdays getting slower.  Can the shorter days be one of the reasons?

it is more than shoter days. Hoildays and family things make it tough for people to look for homes this time of year. No one wants to change schools, most job changes are made in the spring and summer. Football season keeps guys looking at the games. Shopping for other things hurts shopping for homes.
