It's weird..when I make flyers my boss is always telling me "it needs more white space." I never realized that there was a connection between that and clutter, but apparently there is.
We didn't have much growing up, and I was one of five siblings, so I became somewhat of a hoarder as an adult. I wanted to hang on to everything I got! I'm not as bad as some people - I don't have things cluttering up walking space and I am a clean person as far as making sure dishes are done, floors vacuumed, etc....but I have so much "stuff" that I think I might need someday. If I haven't used it for 10 years, I don't think I'm gonna! LOL!
Just recently I have realized how much that is affecting my life. I am having a huge yard sale soon and I'm hoping that will help to relieve some of the stress. I've also been organizing like crazy. My space at the office is not cluttered, but at home, my family members fuss at me about it.
Back to the flyers, I've always thought "why waste the paper space?" But you are right, it gives it a feel of simplicity and elegance. See, you can teach an old dog new tricks! ;)
It sounds like a "aha" moment.. I would urge you to share those insights about the flyers with your boss along with this post.
Very interesting, Dave. Something that I have felt intuitively, but never seen it articulated as well. Thanks for sharing this with us.
