Are You Planting Your Seeds for Your Spring Business Now?

Are you doing all you can do and being all you can be to promote your business for the spring?    Is your website up-to-date, is your Facebook and Twitter active, have you started blogging with a purpose, do you keep up with networking groups, etc...)  Have you concentrated on "asking" for business, so folks are out there looking for ways to help you?   Have you been working your SEO so you are showing up in your neighborhood?    I do for Wilton and Fairfield County around me....

Holly bushes full of berries

Look around you , and notice that all of the trees, bushes, and plants have begun the spring preparation a long time ago.   If they have not set their buds yet for next year's flowers, they have produced seeds for the birds.   The seeds are food for the birds, and also their method of propagation!

It is happening all over Wilton and Fairfield County around me....

dogwoods with berries and flower buds

The dogwoods have set not only their buds for next year's flowers, but also have lots of berries for the birds to help them propogate.

It is happening all over Wilton and Fairfield County around me....

junipers with berries

How about the great berries forming on the cedars, junipers, hollies, etc.   How about all the pretty little flower buds on the rhododendruns, the dogwoods, the witch hazel, azaleas, etc?

It is happening all over Wilton and Fairfield County around me....

seedling forget-me-nots

Nature is so busy right now, working for next year's crop.   What about you?   Are you being busy enough being forward thinking and planting your seeds?

You're so right that we have to plant now to reap later. Let me offer my recent post for a few more tips and ideas to plant now.

Constant planting of seeds for our future business is so important.  But usually we get caught up in the everyday details that we sometimes get a little behind in that area.  I think we should all take a day or two every now and then and do nothing but analyze and plan and envision what we want our business to be.

Hey Dagney -
I agree completely - I'd rather be so busy that I have to send an assistant to cover 4 closings a week I'm working toward, but without planting the seeds, nothing happens!

I busted my tail last Oct, Nov, Dec and jan...It paid off huge. Over 7 million in closings by June. Fall is a time when a lot of realtors chill. Not me I pick it up and layout my plan for the next year. If you can get up 100 blog posts beween now and Cjristmas you will kill it next year. When I see brokers struggling in the spring and summer I know they took the fall season off. I love it.

I always ramp up going into the holidays to build up listings and buyer relationships going into the next year.  What's funny is that I see so many agents, even experienced ones, start to slow down as we head toward the holidays.  It's crazy.

Dagny,

I like the analogy. When we have a good month, we need to go back ninety to one hundred days to see what we did to sow those seeds of business

My goodness!   I spent the day playing golf in a fund raiser for Breast Cancer, and look what happens???   What a fabulous day it was, too!   Thank you all so much for all of the wonderful comments.    Hmmm   No one disagreed with me.    All out there working extra hard.    I am going to spend the fall figuring out how to streamline my business so I can do more with less work!    BUT that's not all, as I will still be doing all of the above mentioned things to grow, also...

Dagny I have not thought that far ahead particularly since the lull in business will soon be upon us.  Perhaps around December, I'll start planting seeds for business.

Dagny - nice pictures. Are you a horticulturist? Good points about sowing the seeds now for the spring. We will be doing a lot of work on our web site over the winter to capitalize on the down time.

Thanks so much, Al and Peggy!  I am out there working now for next year ......

Mark - Good project for your slower months up there in the colder climates....   I have done too much with my property and others over the years - but I do love it!
