Palm Beachers on the Forbes 400, of course

By Robert Janjigian | Wednesday, September 22, 2010, 11:52 PM

Manufacturing and energy tycoon David Koch, once again, has the deepest pockets of the score of Palm Beachers who made the just released Forbes 400 list of America's richest people.

Koch, 70, has a fortune estimated at $21.5 billion, and is tied for fifth place on the list with his older brother Charles, who resides in Kansas.

Koch's twin brother William, also an island resident, is tied for 90th place, with a net worth of a mere $3.4 billion.

There are 20 men and women with island ties who made the cut, which this year doesn't include any millionaires.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates is no. 1, with $54 billion in his hefty portfolio.

Next among the part-time and full-time P.B. locals on Forbes' list, tied for 24th place, is corporate raider Carl Icahn, with an estimated worth of $11 billion.

Here are the rest of the Palm Beachers who, it would seem, don't have to worry about making rent or where their next meal is coming from:

Enterprise Rent-a-Car mogul Jack Taylor, no. 37, with $6.5 billion to his name.

Cosmetics executive Leonard Lauder, tied for 66th place, with $4.2 billion.

Coming in ranked among several others at 69th place, Blackstone Group honcho Stephen Schwarzman, with $4.1 billion.

Tied with William Koch at 90th place, investor Henry Kravis, with $3.4 billion on hand.

Real-estate developer and Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross comes in tied for 101st place with $3.1 billion.

Ronald Lauder is ranked in 124th place with $2.8 billion.

Malcolm Glazer, with extensive real estate and sports team holdings, is tied for 136th place on the list, with a $2.6 billion fortune.

Among those ranked at 153rd place is Donald Trump, with $2.4 billion.

Ronda Stryker, who owns a South End condo, is listed in 170th place, with a fortune of $2.1 billion.

Alfred Taubman comes in at 182nd place, with an even $2 billion.

Investor Wilbur Ross has a net worth of $1.9 billion, landing him in 205th place on the list.

Marvel owner Isaac Perlmutter is in 250th place with $1.65 billion.

Slim-fast founder S. Daniel Abraham is tied with investor George Lindemann and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft for 269th place. All have holdings worth $1.5 billion, according to Forbes.

Medical-equipment heir Jon Stryker is ranked in 332nd place with $1.2 billion in holdings.

Investor Nelson Peltz, with $1.1 billion, comes in tied at no. 365.

Several Manalapan billionaires are also included on the magazine's annual survey, including Alticor's Richard DeVos, tied for 62nd place with $4.3 billion and hedge funders Robert, Daniel and Dirk Ziff, all with $4 billion and ranked in 74th place.

Ann Cox Chambers and Jim Kennedy, owners of Cox Enterprises, whose holdings include the Palm Beach Daily News, also made the list.

Chambers, with $12.5 billion, is in 19th place; Kennedy, her nephew, has a net worth of $6.26 billion and comes in at 38th place on the Forbes 400.
