I love to stay up late. I do my
best thinking then. (Kids
are asleep) But, I also love to get up early, I think
that may be for the same
reason and many times I will get on the phone with east coast banks
the morning as well, but what happens when you forget which is which?
Awhile back, I admit, I forgot to
turn the ringer off on
my phone. It was dark when I went to bed as it was close to midnight,
but I got
woken up out of a dead sleep when the phone was ringing. Now, I have
to fall asleep on the couch with the speaker phone on waiting for a
answer. (Being on hold for 2 hours, tends to make me drowsy) So, out of
instinct, I just picked up the phone and answered as I always do,
calling, this is Todd, how can I serve you?”

on the other end of the phone said, “Oh, I thought I would get an
machine, I’m sorry, my name is _______________, I was calling about you
my home, did I wake you?”
When I looked at the clock, I
noticed it said “3:37” and I

shut off the phone and
out of habit, just answered it. She was very apologetic as she works
shift and sometimes just doesn’t think about it when she calls. But,
“After I dialed it was too late and I was just hoping to get your
I said, “You know, I’m
up, it happens, so let me go to my desk and let’s see what
I can do for you, set an appointment, and I promise, I am
one of those that
will be back asleep in less than 2 minutes, so no worries.” She was so
that I wasn’t mad, that she listed with me the very next day… of course
she woke up. But, just the same, I made a friend by just understanding
What would you have done in the
same situation? Would you
have been mad she called or would you have made the best of the
sure glad I made the decision I did as it got me another listing. That
years ago and that listing sold in 3 days and we are still friends and
a good laugh about that night. From time to time, if I happen to wake
up in the
middle of the night, I will shoot her and email or an IM via yahoo and
