Friday Night...Ummm...What's For Dinner??? Yeah, That's It... "Wings Plus"....
One being born and raised in Buffalo New York it is hard to believe you could find anything better than wings from the Anchor Bar. The history of the Anchor Bar.
On a Friday night in 1964, Dominic Bellissimo was tending bar at the now famous Anchor Bar Restaurant in Buffalo, NY. Late that evening, a group of Dominic's friends arrived at the bar with ravenous appetites. Dominic asked his mother, Teressa, to prepare something for his friends to eat.
They looked like chicken wings, a part of the chicken that usually went into the stock pot for soup.
Teressa had deep fried the wings and flavored them with a secret sauce. The wings were an instant hit and it didn't take long for people to flock to the bar to experience this new taste sensation. From that evening on, Buffalo Wings became a regular part of the menu at the Anchor Bar.
The phenomenon created in 1964 by Teressa Bellissimo has spread across the globe. Although many have tried to duplicate Buffalo Wings, the closely guarded secret recipe is what makes Frank & Teressa's the proclaimed "Best Wings in the World."
Yes, that's where it all began. But I am here to tell you that Wings Plus has the recipe! Or very close to it.
We have two Wings Plus here in Coral Springs, maybe because alot of the transplants live here. But today I was surprised to see a story in Show Time, NO BONES ABOUT IT. The article goes on to say " The votes are in and the Best wing? Here it is!" Who thought it, South Florida?.
Wings Plus opened back in 1984 by Joe Walsh and his future wife at that time with a 80 seat restaurant at Prospect Road and Andrews Avenue in Fort Lauderdale. Joe insisted on buying the biggest and best wings and is continued today.
Joe past on three years ago but his baby lives on. Joe Walsh's Brother, Brian was a silent partner in the restaurant at the beginning but went on to open other locations and sold franchises for a few more.
Wing Plus, Coral Springs is the place to enjoy great wings and more.
Your never know who you will bump into, even former President Bush had to make Wings Plus a stop while visiting South Florida.
