Eatery Oasis Series: Hatties Chowder House (Unstoppable Woman! - Day 29)

                                                                                 Hatties Chowder House

On the corner of Water Street and Winthrop Street in Hallowell is one of my favorite places tHatties Chowder House on the corner of Water and Winthrop Streetso eat – Hatties Chowder House. Hatties is a fine dining restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and excellent food. Hatties Chowder House is well-known for its clam and seafood chowders and lobster stew, which can be ordered online and shipped anywhere. It has a great reputation with the locals as a place to hang out and listen to live entertainment every Thursday night.

In additionHatties Menual to chowders, Hatties menu offers fresh salads, sandwiches and burgers, chicken, beef and pasta dishes, and of course the requisite Maine seafood: lobster (in season), clams, Maine shrimp, scallops and haddock. Hatties also has excellent pies, especially the fresh berry and fruit pies in the summer months. They have a decent wine list and offer many local Maine beers on tap.

Hatties’ staff are friendly and attentive. Bruce, the bartender/manager has attracted regular customers who congregate daily at the bar to chat. Great food, great service, and a great atmosphere…what more can you ask for?

Clam chowder is excellent. A cold winter night and a bowl of chowder. A great combination.

Debbie - I love seafood, too, and it's the best here in New England.  The cold water, I think.

Tish - this is a great restaurant.  Next time you're up here in Hallowell....LOL

Brenda - the chowder is great!  I'm going to keep going after tonight but it will be on a more "relaxed" schedule.  :D

Ellen - thank you!  I'm trying to write good Localism posts.

Carra...I'm starting to think that all of you are hungry!!!  The seafood chowder is my favorite.

Robert - yes, and it's getting to be that time of year, isn't it?
