Did This Ocala Butterfly Come From Gainesville's Butterfly Rainforest?

By
Real Estate Agent

Did this Ocala butterfly come from Gainesville’s Butterfly Rainforest? It was fluttering around in the back yard yesterday afternoon (and wasn't easy to photograph).

Do you love butterflies? The Butterfly Rainforest, a very short drive from Ocala in Gainesville, is the Florida Museum of Natural History’s newest permanent exhibit, and home to 60 to 80 different species of free-flying butterflies.

The Museum is featuring scheduled butterfly releases this weekend. Butterfly release times.

Susie, what a great picture! We have a butterfly bush at the new house and it is often full of Monarch butterflys.

H-m-m-m-m, Kinda looks like the one that has been fluttering around my back yard. I shot one like it with my 500. Pulling out the "big guns" makes shooting butterflies easier - LOL...

Connie, they are so beautiful! Love their colors.

Michael, I'm still stuck with my Sony but Christmas is coming... feel free to be a good Santa. ;-)

Hello Susie and what a beautiful shot and did Michael say he is playing Santa this year and going to hook up a couple photographers with 500 mm lens?

VB ;)

Hi Susie, That is a great shot. Perhaps this butterfly is native to your area. But it could also be an escapee, not sure. But is a pretty one. If you had taken this with a 500mm,  I bet you could even show their teeth. I sure wish I had a 500 ,though I am not sure I would like dragging that puppy around.:-)
