Steve and Joel.....what great photos; Turtles & Turkeys how can you miss with them.  When I saw the top of the Photos i was strongly hoping that the area was NOT named for THE Cottonwood [snakes], the cottonwood trees are O.K. until they shed & snow on everything around.
As to the weather here in Michigan: two days of High 80's and right now at 9:35 p.m.  55* and lowering.  that, my friends, is one of the reasons we here in MI experience so many 'weather related' upper respiratory incidents.

Fun photos and good luck with the contracts--you should see some coming for that area.

Barb & Sal,

There must have been a large number of Cottonwood trees here at one time, but not so many now.

Thank you for your well wishes. Stay warm!

Steve and Joel,

Love those turtles sunning themselves.  We have a restaurant tucked into the Plaza with a huge fountain.  In the fountain are various turtles on different levels and they sun themselves and looks at the diners with great interest.  It is fun, and I love your picture.

Ron & Alexandra,

I've been watching for sometime to capture a picture of what I thought was just 2 turtles at the pond.  So it was with great surprise that we took this picture and there were actually 4 turtles.

Moments after we took this picture a car pulled up right next to us hoping to get a closer look.  All 4 turtles were gone in an instant. I haven't seen them since.

Hi Steve and Joel, I always get a kick out of turtles sunning, they seem to be quite social.

Silvia,

I agree they are social with one another, but if people get within 50 feet they're gone in a flash. : )

Donna,

Our neighbors had no idea where we took pictures of turtles in Lake California.  We were fortunate to catch them all together!

How great are those turtles! I would love to have a turtle for my pond but I know either the raccoons or the cats would get him. We had about 10 of our fish picked out by a huge Herron from the lake down the street!

Stephanie,

We have plenty of critters, but the turtles seem to know enough to stay on the log for sun. They are so quick to dive in if you even get 40 feet from them.  We too have a heron tree sitting this pond from time to time. The joys of habitat management...

Steve, Great photos!  When we kayak we often come upon turtles, but like you said they are out of sight in a flash if you get too close.  Wild turkeys are quick to scatter also.
