The usually mild mannered Maine real estate buyer suddenly makes unreasonable demands, is never quite happy and borderline difficult.
What happened?
Everyone used to be so friendly, happy, easy to get along with and down right polite.
The Maine real estate domino sales don't give folks license to push other folks around.
But emotions running high and demands made by a buyer two Maine houses before the sale. The one you, the agent, broker, REALTOR is at the helm of carefully guiding around the "rocks". You can explain the eye brow raising new attitudes, activities from experience.
Add in some additional extra real estate agents, lawyers, bankers and mother in laws. Stir in some Facebook comments, other social media barbs. Now the stew is cooking, cauldron boiling, bubbling. And complaints, hurt feelings, second guessing "why why why Mr Anderson" happens. And the fun and games of two cents here and there sprinkled in of "she said he said" can develop.
So like the airline pilot who comes on the intercom and warns of turbulence, extra gusts of head winds that may make the ride a little bumpier, the guy or gal wearing the "R" needs to use some Dr Phil compassion. Run interference and smooth the bumps before they cause derailment, hatred, seeds that germinate of discontentment.
When your buyer or seller or both are whining about why is the other party doing this, demanding that, it is always a case of don't take it personal. And consider that maybe the behavior of someone is a cause of another person's words, actions, events that explain it.
It pulls the buyer, seller back to consider the bigger picture, the rest of the real estate sale transaction forest.
How they fit in, which puzzle piece they hold on the way to the real estate closing. If you were a little bird watching from a window sill. Or a fly on the wall in another home, eavesdropping on the supper or dinner conversations, answers would be forthcoming. Most folks are well intentioned but can be like the St Bernard who becomes a Cujo.
Maine, it's gorgeous four seasons outdoor beauty, wildlife, and fewer people. But the folks we have are friendlier.
