Home Staging Industry Awards - RESA

By
Home Stager with http://atlantahomestaging.net

Just a quick reminder that the deadline for submitting your 2 sets of before and after pictures is October 1st.

Did you know that the Real Estate Staging Association (RESA) is now accepting submissions for the industry awards? The deadline is October 1st, 2010 ,with the winners being announced at the RESA convention in Vegas in January, 2011.

This is a great opportunity and I encourage all RESA members to get their submissions in.  This year, RESA has increased the amount of awards by introducing "regional winners" for both the Professional Stager of the Year as well as Rookie Stager of the Year.

Here are the guidelines for Professional Stager of the Year (taken straight from the RESA website):

RESA® Professional Stager of the Year is a professional home stager that has been in business more than two years and is demonstrating professionalism and excellence in staging.

This year RESA® will be recognizing 6 Professional Stagers of the Year in 6 regions. The regions are as follows: Northeast, Midwest, South, West, Canada and Australia. Click to see what areas are in each region. The 6 Regional Professional Stagers of the Year will be the finalists for the RESA® 2011 Professional Stager of the Year™.

Entry Fee: $25.00

Nomination Guidelines:

  • Last year's winners are not eligible to be nominated in the same category.
  • Last year's nominees are eligible.
  • This is a self-nominating category for current RESA® members.  Members must maintain their membership through the 2011 year.  Given this is a self-nominating category; nominees will not be allowed to market their nomination status. Only finalists will be allowed to market their status.
  • Members with ethics complaints or disciplinary actions in the last two years are not eligible.

Nominees will submit and be judged by the entire RESA® membership on the following:

2 Sets of before and after shots, un-branded. Photos must be labeled: Example 1 Before, Example 1 After, Example 2 Before and Example 2 After.

Send to Shell@RESA-HQ.org

You may mail a check or we will put a charge on your RESA account and you can log in to pay the fee.
Checks should be made out to and sent to
RESA 2274 Partridge Dr. Valley Springs, CA 95252

There are several categories as well. We really need more participation so we can do regional winners. So, lets get some submissions in!

Kathy -- is RESA giving any criteria for the photo submissions, other than the proper way to label them?  Just wondering, thanks.

Hi, Maureen - None that I'm aware of.  I can double check with Shell and will post back here.

Me too, Karen. The regional awards is something the members had asked for.  So... am very pleased that RESA was able to accommodate.

The cut-off time is midnight.

As for "criteria" for submitting - they should not have borders, frames or obviously, and/or anything that denotes the pictures as belonging to you. When submitting, the subject of your message should be labeled: Region and category you are submitting.  As for region, please remember that the regions for submission are different than the STANDARD regions. In other words, go to the link I included in the post to ascertain which region your submission will reside in.

Lori Kim - I'm not sure I understand your question. However, I'm going to take a stab at giving you an answer.

1. The first step is to determine if you're submitting for Professional stager of the year or Rookie. In your case, given that you've been in business in excess of 2 years, you would submit for Professional Stager of the Year vs. Rookie.

2. Next - you would determine what region you reside in. Again, region definitions are a little different.

3. Next - you will choose the two sets of B&A's and label them appropriately. You will then send those pictures to RESA with the subject of the message titled: Region name and Professional Stager of the Year. Deadline is midnight on the 1st of October.

4. Members will vote. The top 3 nominees in each region will be the finalists.

5. The finalists will be asked to provide a one-page PDF (as well as a 5 page PDF). Details regarding the PDF can be found at the RESA site.

5. RESA members will vote to determine one winner from each region. Those winners will also become the finalist for the RESA Professional Stager of the Year. Winners for the regions will be announced at the RESA convention as will the Professional Stager of the Year, Rookie, etc...

There are more details listed on the RESA site and I encourage to you read them carefully so that you understand all the requirements.

Ok.. I kind of understand. But there are several of us out there that are confused. Much different from last year. I have had a couple people try to nominate me only to say that I need to nominate myself... and submit pics before the deadline??? So we nominate ourselves? The nomination should be from our peers... not ourselves. I did read them carefully and I must have staginghymers then. Where do you pay the $25 to nominate yourself? Just need clarification here. Thank you Kathleen.

Lori Kim - Last year, the "integrity" of the voting was compromised. Hence, the change in process as well as the secure voting system that was purchased. If you were one of the nominees last year, then you received emails from Shell regarding what had occurred.

Think of the "nomination" as more of a submission. You're submitting 2 sets of B&A's to be voted on.  The submissions will be posted and the members will vote on the top 3 finalists (for both Regional Professional Stager of the Year and Regional Rookie Professional Stager of the Year. If you're intending to submit B&A's, then check the post to determine what region you reside in, as again, it's slightly different.

Regarding payment, as mentioned in the post - You may mail a check or RESA will put a charge on your RESA account and you can log in to pay the fee.

Checks should be made out to and sent to
RESA 2274 Partridge Dr. Valley Springs, CA 95252

If you have ANY questions, please feel free to call me.

The deadline is October 1st (tonight) at midnight. Photos must be labeled appropriately (Example 1 Before, Example 1 After, Example 2 Before, Example 2 After).

Kathy, not Kathleen (smile).
