Carolyn’s Sophia Institute Experience - aka Carolyn Writes A Blog!

This past spring I was given the opportunity to experience the Sophia Institute in all its glory. I was privileged to attend the second annual luncheon event held downtown in the Marriott Hotel that was not only a fundraiser for the institute but a wonderful “friend raiser” as well.

To be surrounded by so much estrogen in the room was extremely comforting. It warmed my heart to hear educated and experienced women from so many different backgrounds talk about their life experiences, and how they were making a difference in our world today.

It was there that I met the founding director of the Sophia Institute, the charming and very well spoken Carolyn Rivers. I am always awed when an individual or a group of people have a vision for themselves and the world and are able to plant that seed and watch it grow from their hard work and the work of other visionaries.

The Sophia Institute prides itself on bringing leading-edge thinkers, activists and visionaries to Charleston. Please visit their website for retreat updates, special events and additional programs.

By “Transforming People Who Transform the World” they are a source and a guiding light in today’s world for profound transformation and unlimited spiritual growth. Their goal is to try and build a more conscious world that speaks to the vastness of the human potential. To strive each day to make our planet a more enriching place to live through enlightenment, spirituality and the belief in the human spirit. By developing new and on going programs they hope to reach out to an even greater and more diversified audience.

Carolyn Rivers uses a very appropriate quote from Margaret Mead, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed people can change the world; indeed it is the only thing that ever has.”

Sounds like a very interesting meeting.  It's always good to be around people who are trying to improve their own lives and the lives of others.
