Tipp City, Ohio conveniently located near the "Crossroads of America" (I-75/I-70); Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus are just minutes away. Tipp City, established in 1840 along the Miami and Erie Canal, has a rich history of community pride and citizen involvement. Tipp City was founded as Tippecanoe City and was named after presidential candidate William Henry Harrison's campaign nickname, Tippecanoe, which he received after leading his troops to defeat the Shawnee Indian leader Tecumseh at the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811. In 1938, the U.S. Postal Service abbreviated the town's name to resolve the confusion between Tippecanoe City and another small town in Northern Ohio Tippecanoe. Hence, the town's name, Tipp City.
