Finding the Free Stuff - Or At Least Finding the Good Stuff Cheap

Until I met my neighbor around the corner, Betty, I thought BOGO was a brand name, not an acronym for "Buy One - Get One Free."
I'll never forget going to a department store, and searching all over in the dress section for the BOGO brand.  I guess that provides a glimpse in to how shopper savvy I am!

I have gone grocery shopping with Betty, and discovered it is really true - some shoppers armed with coupons can walk out of the store with a load of groceries for pennies on the dollar what most folks manage.  Betty absolutely buys nothing without checking to see if there is a coupon for it first!

Here's a list of Betty's favorite websites.  I thought you might enjoy them too!

Mary - Couponing seems to be gaining in popularity once again.  I see a lot more of it going on in checkout lines these days!

This is good stuff Myrl, with today's prices being so high and the economy tough this will help out a lot of folks.....     I think to pull them out of my wallet after they expire.

Myrl- So you will not think you were the only one who did not know. I had no clue what BOGO was! LOL

Myrl  My problem is I may BOGO something I didn't need in the first place and end up with two of them

Diane - I pulled out a really good coupon from a department store recently.  I was shopping for a birthday gift for a grand-daughter.  I was there a day earlier than the coupon went into effect, and they wouldn't give me the 50% off.  I calmly walked it back over the the aisle, and hung it back up. I'm getting shoppertunistic:-)

Karen - We have a family member that does that. . .However, she's also very generous and the family ends up with the extras.   Sometimes it is hard to turn down what appears to be a really good bargain - whether you need it or not:-)

Steve - I can remember once in awhile when I was in my twenties, that I used a lot of coupons.  It's really been decades since I've taken it seriously.  But watching Betty made a believer out of me!

Barbara-Jo, It has become trendy to be frugal.  I think many more folks are interested in coupons than they were a few years back!

Ann -I think the news media is featuring more attention to the subject of couponing, and other shopper savings.  The other day, I was at a favorite grocery store.  They have a wonderful Deli and Hot Wok.  They were running a special on Rotisserie turkey breasts, that were $2.00 off, beginning at 5:00 pm.  For some reason I had missed the time restriction and showed up at about 4:30 pm.

When they told me I was early, I told her to hold one for me, I'd be back at 5:00.  I did my other grocery shopping at the store, and then went back to rotisserie counter!  A couple years ago, I wouldn't have thought about it as much!  But I have concerns that if I pay a higher price for a product, I am actually helping to drive up prices to people who can afford it less.  Consumerism is something that is a collective process.

Myrl - free or lower priced all get my attention ..... we have different grocery stores all selling one particular brand or line of food products at different prices ..... they all pay the same but some still sell it for less ..... you just know where I shop

Kathy - I tend to shop the specials of two grocery stores I favor.  I usually stock up on certain items when they are on sale.

Debra - You are not alone!  I think it is surprising the number of people who have gone to coupon clipping!  Either by necessity, or it seems trendy!

Virginia - Perhaps the "BOGO" advertising jargon isn't a nationally pushed term.  But I see it quite a bit in my area!  It seems like the perfect brand name for shoes:-)

I see it all the time in the Payless Shoe ads.  They have bogo every month or so.  It is very popular around here.

Debra - I believe Payless Shoes was the first place I became introduced to BOGO.  But, I went the longest time thinking it was a brand name. . .LOL
