Are you bright, passionate and creative? Do you love to do the "impossible"? Would you consider yourself an "outside of the box" thinker? Do you love living on the edge? If so you just might be a Type E personality.
I'm reading a great book, Real Estate the Rome Way, by my friend Margaret Rome, it's about what it takes to make it in the real estate biz. I think it should be required reading for anyone who's new to the business, however there's plenty of useful information for seasoned agents as well. My favorite part of this book by far is Margaret's discussion of the Type E personality ....
When I first read Margaret's description, I nearly fell on the floor laughing (which was kind of embarrassing because I was in the doctor's office waiting room at the time). I had to laugh because she was describing ME, and others Type E's as:
"the visionaries - the ones who are always starting new projects but rarely finishing them, and who come up with one crazy idea after another. They seem to have boundless energy. People love to be around them but spending too long with a TypeE can go from exhilarating to exhausting. They have ideas galore and come up with creative solutions to anyone's problems, but they may not be practical. And while you're still thinking about what they said, Type Es are on the next subject and the next."
Yup - that's me alright. I spent so many years thinking (and being told that) there was something wrong with me for being this way. It's a relief to know my extreme ways are not only okay, but normal - for me. Thank you Margaret for pointing out I'm not alone. There are others like me and apparently I'm in very good company! I think we Type E's instinctively seek each other out. It comes as no surprise that many Type E's are real estate top producers - of course it's certainly not a requirement.
Psychologist Alex Giorgio was the first to identify the Type E personality. In his post, Stressed to the MAX or Just a Frustrated TypeE? he tells us, "When a Type E's creativity is held captive by a mismanaged system of endless tasks, they are often mistaken for a Type A." So how do you spot a type E? "It's all about passion, creativity and living life full out, joyfully and without apology." The challenge is to keep the Type E personality in balance.
It only takes a few quick minutes to take the "Type E Quiz" -- you just might learn something interesting about yourself! I sure did. I learned that I'm a Type E Mystic. Be sure to let me know what YOU find out. A few years ago, Margaret started a Type E personality group. I think it might be time to revive it. Check out this post Type E Personality! Why have an E group?
