Many agents are investing less in their listings

I recently chatted with a professional photographer who creates photos, narrated video tours, and 180 degree panoramic views for real estate agents and their listings. We use him to create all of the visual media for our listings because the quality of his work can't be touched in our market. Our clients' listings look fantastic online. Plus all of our clients' videos are syndicated across a number of different platforms, boosting the exposure our listings receive on the internet.

I asked our professional photographer what he's seeing in the market right now. Are agents investing more in visual media compared to a year ago? The same? Or less? His answer to me was many agents are investing less.

I wasn't surprised by his answer, but in another respect I do find this trend counter-intuitive. Yes, adding professionally-produced media to a marketing plan costs more money, but we view the cost as an investment. It is in an investment in our clients. It is an investment in our business.

Listings with high quality photos and high quality video tours receive more showings. More showings lead to quicker and better offers. (Even now, in this market, we have listings receiving offers from multiple parties).

We base our marketing philosophy on the team concept. We hire other professionals (our interior designer, professional photographer, and marketing/administration manager) to do what they do best. This allows us to focus on what we do best - implementing a marketing plan that is individualized for each listing client. The end result is win/win for all involved. Our clients benefit, and our business grows, too.
