Can Active Rain Help with Travel Plans?

By
Real Estate Agent with McGraw Realtors

FloridaOkay folks.  We all know about hyper local content and all that jazz here at AR.  The idea is to provide community information to your reading audience.

Diane and I want to take our kids to Florida around the first of the year.  We don't have a travel agent and we're on a budget, given the economy.  We want to do Disney and the Space Center and other fun things like swimming with Dolphins (that will be a surpise for Diane).  Problem is, we don't know a good place to stay that won't break the bank.

I checked online to see about an all inclusive stay at Disney.  I was, uh, shocked at the prices!  So now we're thinking maybe stay at an outside hotel one night near Disney and then another place near the Space Center etc.

Also, we're wondering how to find discount tickets.

So, I'm going to search our hyper local content to see what our Florida folks have there.  But I'm also wondering if anyone knows good hotels, where to buy tickets etc.  Perhaps I need to ask someone like Broker Bryant or Wendy or others in Florida.

I'm thinking, with all of us in community here, surely we can help each other out when we're going to be visiting another state?!

If you've been to Florida or know of great places to stay, let me know!

I can't help with this one...but I would also suggest trying Facebook.  My daughter went to Fashion Week in NYC a few weeks ago and I asked for help on FB and got her a week at an apartment in Manhattan for free (friend of a friend who was going to be out of town) and another guy hooked  me up with his travel agent to get the other few days at a very safe and economical hotel.  Social Media is great for things like you are trying.

Good morning Bob,

And why don't you have a travel agent? It's like looking for a Realtor..go to the professionals..they do this all the time for a living. Ask for referrals and testimonials..we have a wonderful Travel agent team (husband and wife) and wouldn't leave home without them!!

Dorie, I guess we don't have a travel agent because I am ignorant.  I figured I'd have to pay them a big paycheck!

Cindy in Indy, thanks for the tip!  We used to live in Columbus, Indiana.  Love Indy!

Bob - When going to Orlando and Disney, it may look expensive at first, but I have had several family gatherings there and we found staying at Pop Century and the meal plans offered are the best for your money. Pop Century is the most economical and have buses scheduled to go to all of the places you want to go, saving on gas and the hassle of getting around. The meal tickets are great if you plan ahead. Food is expensive there and I have found if you plan what park you are going to be at you get a list of restaurants and character meals, you will find the meal plans really can pay off, eating at better places then just on the run. I learned the in and outs of Disney from seasoned families that had done it several times a year. It is really the best way to go. If you would like more information, let me know what dates you will be going and what other attractions you want to see and I can look into it for you in more depth.
