“For amber waves of grain….” More reasons to count our blessings.

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Richard Weisser Realty

For amber waves of grainDespite the dourest predictions to the contrary, America has not devolved into a state of either anarchy or poverty.

And although we have experienced some unprecedented corrections in many market sectors, there is still food on the table and a relative calm acceptance of the circumstances by the populace.

In many cases, families are learning how to “make do,” and are not only meeting the challenges head-on, but in many cases are making permanent lifestyle adjustments that will ultimately lead to both better physical and economic health.

And like those that were raised during the Great Depression of the 1930’s, the attributes of thriftiness, minimalism and conservation will be indelibly emblazoned in the collective mindset for decades to come.

We have so much for which to be thankful. Life is good, and every day is a blessing!

Instead of what we want, thinking we have more than we need, the outlook changes 180%. Stuff is not what makes a great life...relationships, with kids, family, working hard as a volunteer in your local community to make it a better place is the key to being grateful, active, not whining and being sour, dour.

As much as the "new normal" sucks compared to the last 25 years, I certainly cannot complain. The part of the glass that is half full is the important part.

Richard, we do have a lot to be thankful for.

The quietness we have can also be contributed to many of the Give-away programs we have today.  I don't think things would be so quiet if those programs we not in place.  We are not as adaptable today as we were in the 30's.  Just let one Welfare check or unemployment check not show up...

I will join you in giving simple thanks.....I am amazed that negativity often gets equal billing with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Just being on an adventure demands gratitude in and of itself. To complain while you are on it.....cheapens the experience and detracts from the majesty.....thank you for a thoughtful post....Richard....

I am fortunate that I have always been able to find the positives even when things look terrible.  This is a real asset especially in a challenging real estate market.  I am eternally optimistic.
