Pick Your Own Jersey Farm Fresh Produce

New Jersey, and especially South Jersey, has an abundance of farms that cater to those that like to "pick your own" produce, including fruits and vegetables and even Christmas trees.
 
A great example is Johnson's Corner Farm, in Medford, NJ.  There you can pick your own strawberries, sweet corn, peaches, nectarines, sweet cherries, apples, blueberries, pumpkins, pop corn, peanuts and cotton, depending on the season. They also offer field trips, family activities, an animal barnyard, hay rides, sell fresh baked goods, and have educational tours that are in given in conjunction with school groups. A visit to Johnson's farm is a great day trip for groups or the family any time of the year.

DO:

Remember that when you visit a farm, you are a welcome visitor. Like many farms, it is both the family's home and business. Respect their property.

Read and obey all signs. Follow directions about where and what to pick.

Supervise children at all times and be careful around ponds and other bodies of water.

Wear shoes, shirts and other proper clothing at all times.

Protect yourself with sunscreen and a hat.

Leave pets at home.

Place litter in proper trash receptacles.

Keep head, arms, hands and legs inside when riding in farm wagons. Remain seated until the wagon stops.

DON'T:

Enter buildings not open to the public.

Throw or otherwise damage produce.

Climb on or touch farm tools and equipment. Many machines have sharp edges and moving parts.

Climb trees or step on fruit and vegetables in the field.

Frighten or hurt farm animals.
