Who Do You Believe?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with CastNet Realty TREC#263257

You are no good at sales.  You will never make it selling real estate.   You don't know anything about homes or construction, how could you sell real estate?  You don't like to read, you can't understand contracts or do the huge amount of paperwork needed to sell property.  This profession is just not for you!

Ever hear these words?            Look at the ones I put in bold.  That is what you really heard.  Is it not?

It is time to ask yourself, "Who do you believe?"  Anyone that says things like this to you does not have your best interest at heart.  Should you believe someone that doesn't want you to succeed?  Or should you believe your heart?  If you have a passion for real estate or anything else and you want to succeed enough to sacrifice your time, resources and effort, you may be surprised at how far you can go with tenacity.

 It is the passion,

                  that most people lack,

                                                             902 Bluebonnet

that holds them back.

It is also the belief that they cannot make it, and usually, someone instilled this within them years ago.

I know a man that was told in grade school, he could not sing.  He believed it and he has never even tried to sing.   I know a woman that was told as a child, she could not spell.  She believed that and today still has trouble spelling simple words.  She is a brilliant lady but lacks the confidence to put things on paper.

It may be a little thing like these that hold people back.  They are false beliefs.  Why would you believe someone who hurt you or that you don't like?  That is silly, but we do.  Take time and examine your beliefs about yourself.  Is there something deep inside that needs to change?  Is it rooted in a false belief?

Four Bears Trail

Get rid of that belief. Begin to believe in yourself.  Hang out with people who will lift you up, who will believe in you.  We all need positive role models and we need positive friends.  If someone brings your spirit down, stop associating with them.  Choose your friends wisely and your days will be filled with happiness.  Sometimes, happiness is as simple as that.  Go do the things that make you happy.  If it is real estate sales, go be the best agent you can be.  You will succeed if you have the passion and the tenacity.

Anyone who would suggest those sentiments to you is not worthy of your time. I would also question how successful they must be in their own life with an attitude like this.

Just don't listen to negativity.  You can do anything you set your mind to.

Hi Eileen,  You are right, attitude is everything!

Yes Claudette,  I agree completely.  It is hard to get past those kind of words if someone has spoken them to you for a long time but you can do it.  But you must have positive people in your life!

Thank you Fernando,   I need all the great friends I can get!!!!

I am reading the first couple of paragraphs nodding yes through out and think, this should be a feature and there it is.  Congratulations.  Belief in yourself and your plan is so important.  I have learned that in my short nine months in the business from reading your blog and others like it who share so much of your wisdom. Thank you.

This has much deeper meaning than simply applying to real estate.  This is one of life's great lessons that we all need to positively instill in our children.  You can do anything that you set your mind to.  Never let anyone tell you that you cannot!  With hard work and perseverance everything is possible.

Hi Karen,   Yes, we all need more confidence and especially when times are tough.  We need people to lift us up and believe in us.

Hi Mike,   Thank you so much for such a great compliment.  I hope this blog helps many people.

Yes Simon,  You are right.  This is a life lesson for all things and we need to tell our children this.  They need to hear it from us!

I think that is just the basic response to people who listen to 'News Reports' about the market. They assume that you have to be some sort of 'salesman' to get the job done but that is so NOT true. You do have to be a marketer though. If you cant market yourself, you will have a hard time for sure.

True John,  we have to market ourselves but that is just part of learning the job.  It is important for people to try.  IF they have a desire to do something, try.  Don't let others keep you from trying.
