Long’s Peak: From the Key Hole to the Gulley

This set of photos is from the Keyhole, up the gulley and around the East side of the peak. This was the final leg of my hike to the summit of Long's Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park. This was the most challenging part of the hike both going up and going down.

I faced many fears during this part and at one point I almost turned around. There were many places along this part of the hike where I was just one step away from going over the side of the mountain.

John,

Looks like a great trip to get over your fears.  Personally, this would challenge my physical abilities (4 neck surgeries), but also would tax my mind... g

John, Those are absolutely phenomenal pictures - so breathtaking. What a beautiful part of the country you live in. I have to say that I am quite impressed. You are brave to have taken that journey.  How many of you went up? How long did it take?  I can tell you without a doubt that I would not have been able to do it.

Thanks everyone...A hike like this is not for the faint of heart. It was much more difficult that I had expected. And just a few days ago someone fell to their death along the same trail I took. The hike took me 14 hours round trip!
