You better beleive they do! If you haven't heard of the social networking website aimed at seniors, you need to get linked to Life on The Flip Side of 50 at... Eons.com. For all of you who target Boomers and Classics (Classics are senior adults who are classified as the WWII generation), this social "MySpace" type website for the over 50 crowd is just for you! (and even for those under 49 too!)

This is a Special Opportunity You Shouldn't Miss

The Eons website has all the makings of a special opportunity to show your SRES expertise (not to mention all the SEO Link Juice benefits). Even if you haven't tapped into to Baby Boomers and Classics market, this is a golden opportunity for you to join this special social network and focus your expert RE message here.  Boomers and Classics have serious buying power and are active real estate investors. Just remember, this unique group has their own set of "wants, needs and fears". So be sure you know how to speak their language before you wade into this market.

Creating Your Eons' Profile The Right Way!

Remember the principals Brad taught you on "Optimizing Your AR Profile For Search Engines and Site Visitors"? Now go create yourself a profile using those same concepts for your Eons Profile. It took me about 30 minutes to create my profile plus upload some images. Now I have to admit I haven't completed my Eons profile yet. The reason being, I was so excited to read about this great opportunity I had to stop and come back to AR to post about it on my blog.

What Are Your Benefits to Creating an Eons Profile?

  1. Could you use a little Google SEO Juice? I double checked with the SEO Guru at Dakno Marketing and Brad states the SEO value appears to be rock solid with Eons.
  2. Great Networking Opportunities - Yet another avenue to network with other RE peers.
  3. Another outlet to let your expertise shine! Remember - give, give, and give some more (sound RE information) to this group and you'll be seen as the Go To Resource at Eons!

Create Something For The 50+ Crowd

Should you decide to take my advice and venture into the Eons world, you might want to create a seniors page on your website. Maybe add some imagery of active 50+ people along with some compelling original content filled with great information. This way you'll have another opportunity to drive traffic to a link on your website.

Please Don't Let My Mom's Internet Connection Go Out!

Remember - Boomers and Classics love the Internet too. Just let my Mom's Internet connection go out and my phone will be ringing in no time.  Now go create that Eons profile.

Enjoy!

Bobby Carroll

Too many people overlook this market - I guess that's why GM still makes Buicks although the 50+ crowd does drive sportier carsas well

Good post Bobby.  However, it is not surprising that Boomers have computer expertise.  At 58, I have been programming for 40 years starting with an IBM 1401 in Autocoder language and taking the first BAL class for IBM 360.  And there were plenty of experts when I started.  The platforms have changed mightily as has the terminology.  Of course, one must endure the taunts.  When we turned the millenium and someone asked what you call the first decade - as in 20's, 30's etc. - one of the youngsters turned to me and asked, "What did you call it last time?"

Thank you Joe. We have come quite a long ways since days of computer cards (the original chads). I actually remember the first days of using a computer to search and input my listings on the Raleigh MLS. What would agents think of using those weekly MLS books? :0) Thanks for the compliment.

The power of the internet, it is really amazing! My mother-in-law, who just turned 64, has a new item in mind for Christmas, and guess what, it is not a blender! She wants a laptop! Yes, a laptop! She loves it when I take mine to her house because she can then go online and go to her favorite sites. She does love cooking, so she will mostly go to the Food Network website to get recipes. If she anticipates that I will be going to her house, she might even remind me to take my laptop, that's how much she loves to go online. And yes, of course she is getting a laptop for Christmas, she deserves it! I had would have never thought that after 63 years of internet-free life, she would go crazy for this toy!

Marv- This is so ironic, Our family was just talking tonight about what to give my in-laws for their 60th wedding anniversary and guess what it's going to be a Laptop. My father-in-law is 84 years old and he came to me tonight to say he wants to start blogging on several sites on politics and Christianity. I think it's great!

Hey, Bobby. Love this post. I have a high school classmate who has a great email list going. We all send him our news, and he broadcasts it to the list. He's a natural born blogger ... he just doesn't know it. I'll be sure to tell him about eons.

Don't know why people assume Boomers are tech dummies. I mean, didn't we invent computers? It's like the Geico caveman. You gotta give 'em a little credit for the wheel and fire, etc.

It's always the first breakthroughs that are the hardest. Remember when they broke the gigahertz barrier with the first 1 GHz CPU back in 2001? Took 'em 30 years to get to that, but then they were up to multiple GHz very quickly.

Just for the record, I can take my computer apart AND put it back together again. That's not to say I wasn't scared to death of my first one. My son kept telling me, "It's just a machine, Mom." Finally, I heard him.

Take care..........Kay

Hi Kay - Great points - Computing - "So easy even a caveman can do it!" If I were to tear apart my computer it would not be a pretty sight! I'd have to call Brad for a 911 emergency!

Nick - EONS is a little slow to take off if compared to MySpace. It shouldn't take long for it to get up to speed though. It's owned by Monster.com so they have the $$$$ to make it work.
