Hi Onslow County and surrounding area residents. I bet you think the nearest zoo to your home in Jacksonville, N C is the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro, N C, a 3 1/2 hour drive away. I have good news for you. There is a zoo right here in Jacksonville where you can take your kids for a wonderful outing.
The Lynwood Park Zoo is located at 1071 Wells Road in Jacksonville and they have an amazing array of animals. The zoo opened in 1994 and is staffed entirely by volunteers.
There are more than 80 animal exhibits which include many species of mammals, birds and reptiles. I've never met a child that did not enjoy a visit to the zoo and watching the animals. Have you?
