It is not uncommon for investors to contact me asking for advice on where to buy rental properties. My response is sometimes surprising when I refer the potential client back to their real estate agent. Although I am a licensed real estate agent too, my expertise is managing rental properties, not sales.

Yes, a seasoned property manager should be able to provide valuable insight into the rental market. However the buyers agent is supporting the overall transaction and will usually have his/her own perception of the market. It is better to colaborate as real estate professionals rather than to confuse our clients.
