Florida legislators are facing a $2bn budget cut over the next two years. they are blaming housing, but whatever the reason i think this is GREAT news! The less money they have to spend, the less damage they can do. Also they always seem to forget just who's money it is they are playing with. They act like they are involved in some giant monopoly game!

The bottom line here is they could fix this AND the housing situation if they had the guts to do it. The original proposal on the table regarding property taxes, was to abolish them completely and replace them with a 1% increase in State Sales Tax and give Counties on a county by county basis and with the approval of voters up to an additional 1.5% sales tax increase.

The economy of this State would have changed overnight!!! And housing would be BOOMING right now if they had delivered what they promised.

Of course they are politicians and so that was never going to happen, but nice thought!

I have had numerous politicians on my radio show and I continue to hold their feet to the flames. Remember to tune in every Sunday at 12 noon Eastern for the show. And if you live outside of Central Florida then the show is available on streaming through www.540wfla.com.

Also remember to check out my website at www.simonconway.net and of course I am always available on 407 876 8200.

You are correct. The less money they have the more honest they will have to be. Make sure they do the basics correctly before going on to the deserts.

I remember when they wanted to raise taxes here in Oregon so they could fix the "shortfall." I agree, I think they need less money and need to be held accountable for how they use what they have. We all have to budget our monthly income and so should they. We don't have a money tree in the back yard like they seem to think (Taxes?) but hey, what do I know? haha...I agree with you and I'll have to check out your show.
