What does October first mean to you?

For many it means preparing for winter and hunkering down. Others face endless days of leaf raking. And the more diligent among us will be working on their 2011 business plans.

For dogs at the Jersey Shore who have watched us, and vacationers, flock to Surf City and Barnegat Light on Long Beach Island all summer long, October first has a whole different meaning!

It's when their beach season begins!

Yay for the happy dogs who will once again be able to head to the beach! Our dog loves the beach (I think the smells intrique her!) and likes to nip at the waves.

Been down to the Jersey Shore many, many times in the summer and never even noticed dogs were not allowed. I can imagine there will be a lot of happy canines down there today and in the months to come. Great place to run and play!
