The First time!

By

So, for the first time it looks like I will be taking a client out to look at homes, so scary! Will I say the wrong thing, not have the answer to the question, will I be driving the wrong car? Uggg

I know I will always remember my first but it is filled with so many unknowns! I want to make a good impression, this is what I have worked so hard for right?!?!

First times are scary.  Like Karen stated just be prepared.  Writes notes when you don't have an answer and let them know that you will get back with them on those issues.  Remember you are in control, you are the expert.  Let them know that in your confidence.  Good Luck.

I met my first client at an open house about a month after I got my license.  I hardly knew my way around the area where I was showing and at one point, I was following them.  The first or second time out, I missed one of the homes on our tour and realized it and had to back track and they were patiently waiting for me.  They purchased a home and had me sell theirs.  I would call the owner of my company when I was with them if I did not have an answer.  I did not try to pretend I knew something if I didn't and was just myself.  Now, I look back and realize how green I was--but three years later, I love what I am doing and pretty successful in a challenging market.  Just listen to people and be yourself.

I was trying to remember my first time out... to be honest, I've forgotten!  I have to sometimes take a step back and go through what makes a great showing agent!  I went through this a month or so ago after a long dry spell.  You will do fine!  Be prepared, know your route, make sure you have client material and some mints/bottled water.  The most important thing to remember, is to listen to what they have to say!   I also would recommend not making it an exhaustive showings - I find that four to five homes is max (but I live in a rural area so your milage may differ).  You can always go back out for more!

I do recall one of my first showings, I almost walked in and said "what a dump!".  Good think I kept my mouth shut, the client loved it (although never went through with the deal).

Again, you will do fine - I worry when people don't worry about this!  Of course, let us know how this all went!  And have some fun!

Kris,

I think you will do good.  Have faith and just remember, if need be just fall back onto world peace. :)
