What is so great about Kerrville and Kerr County?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with CastNet Realty TREC#263257

Kerr County is a great place to live and work.  This is even more indicated by today's jobless report.  We have 1,490 jobless workers.  That is not a good thing for them but the percentages for Kerr County versus the rest of Texas or the nation is quite impressive.

I'm all ears!                                  The county rate in August was 6.2 percent

compared with 8.4 percent for Texas

and 9.5 percent for the nation.

Kerrville is a small town with conservative values and Kerr County is a beautiful place located in the Hill Country of Texas.  It is only an hour's drive from San Antonio and all the entertainment and shopping one could possibly need.  The University of Texas at San Antonio is located on the west side making an easy commute for students if they decide not to go to Schreiner University located right here in Kerrville.

Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital and all the medical specialties' centers located here make our area a great place to live.  Kerrville has 4 public elementary schools, BT Wilson 6th grade school, Peterson Middle School and Tivy High School.  Notre Dame Catholic School is also here.  Dietert Senior Center and the new     Salvation Army KROC Center are other good facilities the locals enjoy.

Kerrville is blessed with wonderful art galleries and museums, and the Cailloux Theater and Hill Country Arts Foundation and The Point Theatre for those that enjoy various forms of art.  Music, art, education, hunting, tubing, kayaking, fishing, all kinds of outdoor activities.  The Coming King Sculpture Garden is in the process of being built on I-10.

If you have children and want to get away from the rush, rush of big city living or if you are ready to retire in a place that has little traffic but all the conveniences of a larger place, you should consider Kerrville.

With the gorgeous hill country views, the rivers, the exotic animals, the cypress trees, you will fall in love on your first visit.  Give me a call and I can help make your search for the perfect place to live a lot easier.          Guadalupe River

There is room for you here to grow and stretch out.

Ricki, I'll bet you have a lot of buyers. We have had two friends from Houston relocate to the New Braunfels area.  There is something to be said for a small-town environment!

Hi Carl & Ceil,  Yes, this little critter was posing.  Don't you love her lovely long eye lashes?  There are so many great things about Kerrville.  I could have gone on and on but then the post gets too long and people get tired of reading :)

Hi Trey,   YOu are so right.  IT is a wonderful place, But all of Texas is great.  Kerrville just has some special things that aren't all over the state but you all are near the pine forests.

Ricki, Very nice post. I've visited your part of the world and it is very beautiful. If you read many of my blogs you know I prefer a warmer climate...you have that. So you're between San Antonio and Austin right? What could be better?

Hi Charles,   Kerrville is northwest of San Antonio and southwest of Austin.  So we make a point on the triangle.  Your area is very pretty but it is colder.  My niece lives near you.

Hi Heather,   Talk about cold!  Pittsburgh is a long way away.  How long have you lived here?

Hi Ricki, we are truly blessed to be here in the great Texas Hill Country.  Small town atmosphere, yet just minutes to San Antonio.  The best of both worlds.
