How Much Do You Know About Your Community?

By
Home Stager

How much do you know about your community? You may know where buildings and business are but do you really know what they do?

This week I was attending the weekly Rotary luncheon. We have a guest speaker each week about different topics. This week we had a representative from the Coral Springs Museum of Art. Now for years I have known where it is but never took the time to see what they were all about. I was surprised at all the activities they offer.

After the meeting we were all given the October monthly calendar of events.

First of all, the fall exhibition now through December 11, 2010 presents artwork of Yves de Saint-Front, The Kaufman Collection, Collector's Corner, Antique Pencil Sharpeners Private Collection, Jim Rennert, Michael Kahn and Nicholas Berger, courtesy of Cavalier Galleries.

There are art classes for Adults, Children & Teens. The Children and Teen Classes explor sculpture, drawering, art samplers, comic book design and the list goes on. For Adult & Teen classes include open studio figure drawing, fun with faces, drawing and painting the figure, tech of drawing, wheel techniques for clay, watercolors and again the list goes on.

Family Funday, October 9th at 3 pm, Paper People, taking beautiful paper and images from magazines to create people and landscapes. A collage is when you cut and glue papers to create unusual artworks.

Talk about getting creative what a way to relief stress and relax a little, wheather you go by yourself or make it a family event.

The month end with a Pumpkin Painting for Halloween Friday Oct 29th.

There is some much more to discover and I would encourage anyone in and around the Coral Springs area to take a look at the Coral Springs Museum of Art website.

Coral Springs Museum of Art is located -

2855 Coral Springs Drive, Coral Springs, FL 333065, 954-340-5000

Oh, I almost forgot to mention, Wednesday, October 20th 7-9 PM will be the 9th Annual Wine Gala at The Fresh Market on Wiles Road in Coral Springs. All proceeds from the Wine Gala will benefit the Coral Springs Museum of Art. During the event Fresh Market will offer a 10% discount on wine purchases of up to 11 bottles and 15% on 12 or more bottles.

Sounds like lots of fun to do in your neck of the woods!  My team is part of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, LeTip, ex-Toastmasters - realtors in this market give back to the Community and it is a completely different breed than before, I love it.  Thank you for being one of the giving realtors too:)

Linda ~  So much to do!  It's really quite wonderful.  Of course, you will probably attend every single event; whew!  Wish I had your energy.  Blessings.

Linda, Rotary is just the best! I have benefited in so many ways from participating. The community is the big winner though.

Tish - Thank you so much for your blessings, heaven only know how much I need them.

There is always alot to do but I can't get to all of them, gee, last week I missed two networking events because I had a "call to action" as a grandma, Reilly's 6th birthday one evening and babysitting the other so Mom could do a teacher conference..

A grandma has to do what a grandma has to do LOL:)

Kathy - I was really surprised that the Museum had so many classes and events. The art classes sound really great, maybe the wheel techniques of clay, I would like to mold a few things my way LOL:)

Charles - The Rotary is a breed of its own and I do love being part of it. I think the 4-way test of the things we think, say or do, says it all about the Rotary.

Roger - Thank you. I joke with my children this is my new social life, but in fact I believe it is. I really do love being part of a community and doing things that matter, helping others and learning everyday:)

And the best part is that I get to share it all on Active Rain with all my friends.

Looking forward to the 18th, new count down!
