Warning Signs at the Beach

Anyone for a swim?  Spotted this collection of signs while on vacation on the island of Kauai in Hawaii.  But come on, when was the last time a tourist paid heed to a warning sign?  Yes, we went snorkeling anyway (after all, it wasn't high surf, there was no rip tide warning, and we swam around the rocks).  But of course, we only went where others were--we are not that kind of tourist  : )

Great logic... swimming where others were. Cause we know problems never happen to more than one swimmer at a time!  hee-hee!

Hey Ruth - It makes sense when you are on vacation (that's why the locals hate tourists so much!).

Interesting post Chris. Unfortunately, Lake Michigan has claimed a few more victims this year than in past years. Speculation is that more people are swimming because of the heat ~ we had many, many rip tide warnings this year that went unheeded.

Hi Mary - Yes, Hawaii is very good about giving warnings when there are rip tides, and the day we were there was not one of them (I do value life more than to take chances like that - or allow my family to do so).  I have been there when there were rip tide warnings and didn't go near the water.  People do need to use their heads, especially when on vacation!  : )
