Race for the Cure

What can stop traffic?     50,000 participants of the Walk/Run Race for the Cure on behalf of breast cancer awareness was run today in Denver, which is usually one of the highest participated events across the Country.

Statistics stated that one our of seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, compared to the national average of one in eight women.

One MILLION Dollars has been collected due to today's Race for the Cure, and are still coming in.   For those not wanting to participate in the walk/run today, there was also a Sleep in For the Cure, where there were donations made.

With last year's donation the following was able to fund 7,383 screening services, 192 treatment services like chemotherapy and radiation, educate 27,944 people on breast cancer and breast health and provided 410 rides to patients for treatment-related services.

Race for the Cure

For every dollar collected in Denver - 75% will stay in Colorado to help fund breast health, and 25% will go for National funding.   REMEMBER - men can have breast cancer also.     Here in Denver, we have BREAST CHECK 9 DAY, which is sponsored by Channel 9 news, and should be done every 9th day of every month.

If you were not able to participate in today's race, and would like to donate - Sleep in For the Cure.   The Susan G. Komen Foundation also offers people the chance to text in a donation by texting DENVER to 90999 to give $10 to the Komen Denver Race for the Cure.
