Alligators in Colorado

Colorado Gators Reptile Park

Colorado Gators Reptile Park is a hidden treasure that can be found 17 miles North of Alamosa on Highway 17.     I found this great tourist attraction during a road trip around Colorado.     Some times it AMAZING what you can find!

With 23 years in Colorado with alligators, this will surely be a destination you will want to add to your tourist list!     There are 125 species of exotic birds, turtles, alligators (LOTS of alligators), reptile refuge, rattlesnakes & pythons, ostriches and emus.     You can tour a working fish farm in geothermal pools.Colorado Gators Reptile Park

HOURS of operation:  Labor Day thru Memorial Day (thru the winter months) are open 9 am to 5 pm.

Tickets -

Adults $15.00

Children (6-15) $7.50

Seniors (65+) and children under 5 are FREE

There are friendly turtles wandering the shop, along with gators you can get a picture taken with you holding one!    This is in beautiful territory, so don't forget to bring your camera.    Alligators are not usually a site you will be expecting Colorado!

Okay, Joan, You really pulled me in with that title!  Years ago when we lived in Monument, there was a pelican who was blown way off course during a storm and took up residency for a few days.  I actually came across a picture of it (just a few days ago) swimming in a pond in Monument.  I thought maybe alligators had moved into Monument, too!!

Sounds like a pretty cool place to visit and, yes, I am a little surprised to find it in Colorado!  I love road trips too for this very reason!
