So, when I was growing up we use to go to church every Sunday.  One day after church my father told me that God's music was suppose to sound angelic.  That's when he turned around and said, "you Chris do not have an angelic voice." Talk about crushing my dreams of ever becoming a pop star.  Whatever Dad!  Don't get me wrong he's not a bad guy.  So, I went on to college to do something else with my life other than singing.  Let me insert right here, I do have a terrible voice and I shouldn't be singing, EVER!

The only time I do sing is in the shower... and of course the car, who doesn't??

Fast forward to today, I was out prospecting in my neighborhood where I work, and Prince's "Raspberry Beret" came on the radio.  Picture this--the windows are rolled down, it's a cool yet nice day outside and there I am singing right along side Prince. I was having a great time.  That's when I looked to my left and saw one of my past clients walking his dog.  To my horror, he was standing there laughing and spewing Starbucks. I couldn't help but turn 150 shades of red and it didn't help that I was wearing a red shirt, I probably looked like a lobster.  Several minutes later my phone rang and it was him, LAUGHING! I didn't know what to say.  Anyway, I got a referral out of it and I was having a good hair day.

It is so funny how we think no one is ever looking at us in the safety of our cars.   Yes,   I sing all the time in the car.   Good or bad.   I think it's a great stress reliever if you keep the windows up!  :)

Chris, I loved your post!  I've been caught singing also when I least expected it.  It is awesome that you can laugh at yourself!  Thank you for sharing.

I wasn't familiar with Prince's "Raspberry Beret," so I looked it up online.

Yes, I can see how it takes a certain skill and voice to sing that song.

May I make a modest suggestion? If your singing abilities don't measure up to Prince's, maybe you could sing along with some other singers. Maybe Bob Dylan? Rod Stewart? Kris Kristofferson? You'll have a wide choice of songs, and your voice may even compare favorably to those three.

Rock on!

Well buddy,  Good for you for going out there door knocking.  but tell the old man this.....

"Work like you don't need the money -

Love like you've never been hurt -

Dance like no one's watchin'--

and if I may add the line

"Sing like no one can hear"

Sing - As loud and as often as you can... It clenses the sole.

Keep A Good Thought
