It’s October and you know what that means: Fall Color!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Richard Weisser Realty

Fall leaves in Newnan GAScalloped wings aflutter on pillowed wisps.
In acrobatic flips and twists adrift
Unfettered, free to soar aloft
‘Til calm prevails o’er Autumn’s wafts
And flight succumbs to
Newton’s strains
New carpet on the floor is lain!
                            (R. Weisser 2010)

It’s October, and it’s time for nature’s most fabulous show of the year. There is nothing like the brilliant colors of fall foliage on a bright and sunny Autumn day.

But just like fireworks that burn the brightest just before they fizzle out into smoke and dark, the showy deciduous  leaf display is fleeting and short-lived.

This incredible annual event mitigates the impending dread of the cold and dark winter weather ahead.

And that’s what makes it so special.

I love to watch the foliage.  We also bought an oatmeal cookie candle.  Smells like October in this house :)

Nice poem. We are watching the leaves turn, not so because of the cool snap, but because the dry conditions are stressing the trees. Fall is a little premature and may not be too colorful. We'll see...

Richard...you're a good poet too!  wish our leaves would change quicker but i agree with michael in that the drought we've experienced this year will cause the strong colors to be dismal...hope that's not the case for my business!

Richard, my frustration is real, there is no way I can take pictures with all this RAIN! The good news, the leaves are still on the trees.. .waiting for me to take their picture. Great shot!

Richard, I love your photo.  The little bits of blue sky coming from behind the amazing leaves are just beautiful.  So's the poetry!

Richard, as usual your photo is beautiful.  We've had an overabundance of constant rain over the past week. But, as Andrea said, Fall is late in coming and the trees late in changing colors.  Hopefully, the best is yet to come.

Richard...great photo and that Poem is a masterpiece.  Good for you.  I love the Fall colors too, and am hoping that our weather this year will cooperate.

We have had the rain here, but our part in Michigan did not have the frost of the last two nights.  Not ready for that in any way, shape, or form.

Have a great rest of the week.

Hi Richard... there's not fall color here in Dallas just yet... not that we get that much anyway.

Richard:

You are so right when you say these colors are short-lived. It is a beautiful show but it all goes by so quickly. Then, we have to rake up all of those once colorful leaves.

Richard the colors are most impressive to watch, and even more pleasant to see a major change in colors almost overnight. AND then comes the sad part, pick them up before the snow falls.

As a South Florida girl I sway with the Palms but I do get "green-itis" and yearn for the Fall colors.  Twed., Oct. 13 we head to boston to catch the colors there for 3 days.  Then on Oct. 16 we go to Prtland, Rockland, and then into Canada...st. John and Halifax.  Then Oct 23 we go to the Lake section of New Hamshire.  WILL WE GET A GOOD SHOW.??  OR will we be too late?
