Under my sink. A contest entry. WeBlog Glitch

What's under my sink that has helped in my career?  What a contest.  What an imagination that Charles Buell has.  But I need points so hustle away to under my sink I did.

Holding my nose, I pulled out various things.  And there it was! Old English Polish My old trusted and used bottle of Old English Furniture Polish!

That bottle dates back to my house that had knotty pine cabinets.  Remember those?  The wood was soft so when you opened the cabinets the finger nails would dig deeper and deeper into the wood so that Old English was used to hide the finger marks.

Then the Old English was used to get all the food stains and water marks off the cabinets around the sink.  Back when people cooked (one of my colleagues says NO ONE cooks anymore) the grime and spots gathered up.  Old English got it off.

I was so taken with Old English that I never minded that it got under my fingernails and stained them for days. I put in my Tips to Help You Sell that the woodwork should be polished with the stuff.

Now that I'm pushing this stuff on a blog, perhaps Old English will solicit me for a paid advertisement!  Wouldn't that be nice?  I do remember the old lady who made a mint hollering for more beef at the burger drive-through.

And while this magic stuff is in my hands I need to get off this blog and go spread a little over this worn area of my cabinets.cabinet scratches

And just in case Mr. Buell is gathering up blog fodder to use in his blogs showing how bad things are under the sink, here's my "under the sink."

Ha! I made the picture so small he can't analyze it.  Ain't I smart!!!

ahh, but those of us "in the know", know how to view the photo in full size... and in full size, I can see the bottle of "lamp oil" in the background... not a safe thing to keep under your sink... isn't that flammable??

Barbara, I don't mean to scare you, but Charles can recognize and even analyze anything.  He will probably write a post about what you are hiding under your sink and what ramifications it may have for your future.

Steven, please don't.  I don't need competition.  I wanna win that contest and you and Nutsy together will blow me totally out of the race.

Alan Elvis, you are sharp eyed and a tattle tale (tail? which should it be). Charlie probably wouldn't have noticed that and now he'd blog about how dangerous it is.  What if the lights went out???  We gotta have lamp oil.  All we need now is an oil lamp....

Virginia, I agree with you.  He probably will.  This whole contest is probably for him to gather blog fodder.  But points!!  I need points!!

What timing! Our under sink is bare. That's because I am doing plumbing work. Thank heaven for copper pipe. Our under sink is a maze of plumbing. I've added a drain entension to an outside sink plus the hot and cold water pipes. Now I'm installing a drip water valve because I'm tired of it freezing up outside. I even tried insulating but that sucker still froze. There's the refrigerator water line, the dishwasher water line, 4 turnoff valves and the maze of pipes. I do all our plumbing work but nothing is plumb because the pipes run at crazy angles.

Back to the subject. If we did do an inventory of the under sink, there would be dish washing soap, hand soap, dish detergent and a bin of sponges, rubber gloves, and scrub pads. All the other stuff is in a cabinet in the laundry room. No squatting to get our stuff. I did look at Paula's wood polish stuff. In total, there are 10 containers.

Most is new stuff like Liquid Gold, Orange Glo, and Cabinet Magic. The oldies are shown below. I think the Old English is a really old bottle.

Remember Fuller Brush? Someone did a sell job on Paula.

Kathy, a clean smell is truly wonderful!

Don, my bottle of Old English is older than your bottle of old English.  Ya ya ya ya ya yah!  as the old kid's saying would go.  Her's is not as dark as mine.  But it's there!  I do swear that you have more puttering jobs to interest you than any guy I've ever known.  Paula may drag you off from the house on all those trips just to keep you from hammering and taking apart and putting together again and worrying her about what's next!!

Your Old English is older that Paula's NOT. Paula's bottle is glass and has a metal lid. Yours looks like plastic and the cap sure is plastic. I'll bet it even has a bar code. Paula says her bottle belonged to her mother and it was bought in Searcy before she left home in 1954.

Here's the label and cap.

#$%%^&& Don!  Paula's is older.  Mine is plastic and has a zip code making it somewhere in at least the 60's doesn't it?  No bar code, though, unless I overlooked it.  I know that you will know when zips began and when bar codes began. You two are just too advanced for me.  : (

Godmother,

We founded a cat under the sink at the house.

Nutsy, all cats are prowlers and they can tell you exactly what is in every nook and cranny of Boss's house.  You'd better be careful, too, because they can't be trusted and you may become cat food.
